In 2013 I am taking a picture of what I am looking at at 2pm everyday. This is part of a larger project on what academics do with their time. I imagine that this will eventually turn into a book about academic practice but equally it might end up as some kind of exhibition. The end point is open.
A long time ago I read Elizabeth Chaplin’s book on Sociology and Visual Representation and this is one of the things that she did. Since then, I have always wanted to try it out. I am not sure about how it will work in meetings and tutorials for instance, but I will just have to negotiate this as I go. Auto-ethnographic work of this kind always raises questions about ethical interactions with others and there are no simple or easy answers.
I have been working on finishing off a book over Christmas. I have been looking at this screen for about 10 days.
